About
I am a fine artist portraying group portraiture and figures which carry conceptual meanings. Coming from a South Asian background my artistic practise links with Pakistani culture and society. Starting from group portraiture of my family members, my work has gradually turned into groups of conceptual figures and portraits which represent the concept of a third space as described by the renowned scholar Homi K Bhabha.
My interest in the third space originated while I was doing my degree in Fine Art from the University of Northampton in 2012. Since then, I have based my work on diasporic groups of figures and portraits who resides in the third space during their journey to the unknown. My figures portrays limitations yet advancement, live in their past yet aspire for future, nostalgic yet unsentimental.
